WASHINGTON – RSC Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement regarding the House passage of the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act:

"For too long, federal bureaucrats have been shielded from accountability to our nation's veterans and their families, despite the endless horror stories about the failure of the VA system to provide adequate care. This deplorable record of disregard for veterans is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. I'm pleased to know this bill will enable the VA Secretary to do everything necessary to improve veterans' care to a standard that appropriately reflects the sacrifices endured by our heroes."

The VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act, S.1094, grants the secretary additional authority to remove employees due to poor performance or misconduct, recoup bonuses and awards, and improve whistleblower protection.
