Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement upon passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1):

While tax reform has been 30 years in the making, our most immediate rewrite began last year with a call for submissions on how to fix our broken tax code. I'm proud to say that much of what we passed today includes the important work completed by Members of the Republican Study Committee.

We still have work ahead of us to fulfill our promises to the American people as we conference the House and Senate tax reform proposals. We should create a final product that provides fair and simple pro-growth and pro-taxpayer principles. Additionally, the final bill should include provisions like repealing Obamacare's individual mandate as the Republican Study Committee and President Donald Trump have advocated.
