Washington - Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after next week's House floor schedule was released with a vote on the Senate-passed budget resolution:

Next week, the House will consider a budget that moves us towards keeping our promise to the American people - passing meaningful, permanent tax reform.

Though the Senate ignored the House's attempt to balance the budget and reform mandatory entitlement programs, the Republican Study Committee remains committed to fulfilling our pledge of fiscal responsibility.

The RSC Steering Committee reached our decision to support the Senate Budget Resolution based on the premise of beginning markup of tax reform legislation within a couple of weeks. We are also grateful for the commitment for a vote on important fiscal legislation in the form of a Balanced Budget Amendment, the Default Prevention Act, or some other deficit-reducing legislation.

We appreciate President Trump's outreach to the RSC on this matter, and applaud Speaker Paul Ryan and Chairman Kevin Brady for their leadership.
