WASHINGTON – RSC Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement regarding the president's FY 2018 budget:

"I commend President Trump and OMB Director Mick Mulvaney for producing a serious balanced budget that reduces deficits by trillions of dollars by eliminating wasteful, out-of-control spending, while prioritizing America's national security. This budget avoids spending money we do not have for unconstitutional federal programs, and it provides the framework necessary to begin tackling some of the most controversial parts of the federal budget – mandatory spending programs.

"Yet it is still necessary for Congress to provide the budgetary path required to ensure the solvency of Medicare and Social Security, which if left untouched will go bankrupt. My hope is that Congress will use this document and the RSC's budget as blueprints to rein in federal spending while strengthening our economy and national security, and securing liberty and opportunity."

RSC's FY 2018 budget will be released in the coming weeks as the House Budget Committee holds its markup of the FY 2018 budget.
