Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after passage of the 21st Century Flood Reform Act (H.R. 2874) to reform the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP):
The National Flood Insurance Program is in dire need of reform as the recent $16 billion Congressional bailout confirms. The 21st Century Flood Reform Act takes much-needed steps to get the NFIP on more sound fiscal footing while implementing institutional reforms that allow the private market to compete. I urge Mitch McConnell to take this bill up in the Senate and pass these needed reforms as soon as possible.
